Behavior Problems In Children – Finding The Right Strategies To Raise Great Kids
The lifestyle of pregnant mothers and its connection with future behavior problems in children has always been the subject of much debate. The results of a Danish study which has been carried out by researchers at UCLA has attracted a lot of attention recently.
This aspect of a possible connection between behavior problems in children and the lifestyle of their mothers was also mentioned in a press release recently released by The British Medical Journal . It seems from the research that cell phone use both before and after birth by the mothers was 50% more likely to cause behavioral problems in the child later on.
Although it was quite a large sample of 28,000 mothers and their children who were followed at various stages during their childhood over a six year period, more research needs to be done before we can definitely say whether cell phones have to be given up by pregnant mothers.
But whatever the pregnancy history, behavior problems in children are going to start to rear their ugly head very early on of we do not insist on setting the limits, and ready to deal out consequences, should this not be the case. That is the first mistake that many parents make because they either ignore the problem or postpone it.
The second mistake with behavior problems in children is that parents are just not getting the right advice. They veer between trying to impose the same old techniques that their parents used with them. Or they think that they can take a strict stance, punish their children and their authority will be once more restored. How wrong they are!
So, what can parents do? They need guidelines about what is the best way to set the limits and how to impose them. They need a set of strategies and also advice from somebody who knows what they are talking about.
This is where parents have to choose between either going to expensive child or family counselling, or making an appointment with a Child Psychologist.
Why not take the cheaper option and benefit from the experience of a child psychologist who has been dealing with these problems for over twenty years.
