How do you deal with an autistic kid that is having behavioral problems, and will not listen to reprimand?
He’s driving his Mom Nuts, and I know what my parents would have done (beatings), but I don’t think that is right or effective.
His doctor, is about as helpful as you Douche Head.
Constantly battling with his Mom about routine stuff like getting dressed (He is 7.), going places, leaving places, trashing the kitchen, screaming, insulting his Mom, hitting his sister…
no meds, trigger = anything.
What is the behavior? What is the trigger? Is he on any medications? What is his routine? How old is he? What kind of services is he receiving?
Autism and behavioral problems go hand in hand, and it takes a lot of effort to find what works for each individual child. She needs to talk to his dr about meeting with a behavioral psychologist and working on a discipline strategy.
And never, ever use physical discipline on an autistic child, not only is it just wrong, it has been shown to make them more aggressive and resentful, which results in more behavioral problems.
